World-wide Spam Drops 60% After Spam Host Taken Offline!

Finally, some net justice!  The McColo Corporation, which is a company that provides internet services for many spammers, illegal drug, and child pornography sites was taken offline today.  Security experts identified the source of almost 60% of the world’s spam as originating from the company’s customers.  The ISP that hosts McColo took justice into their own hands and blocked their internet link.  Various security monitoring firms, such as IronPort, saw world-wide spam levels drop almost 60% the day McColo Corp. was taken offline.  The graph below illustrates the dramatic decrease in observed spam traffic.  Check out the full article from The Washington Post in the link below, McColo was also in some other nasty business according to the article.  Hooray for a little dose of net justice!!
