National Vulnerability Database

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cyber Security Division has created a maintains a National Vulnerability Database of current and past operating systems.  The database is searchable, updated frequently, and very user friendly.

From the DHS National Vulnerability Database Website:

“The National Checklist Program (NCP), defined by the NIST SP 800-79 Rev. 1, is the U.S. government repository of publicly available security checklists (or benchmarks) that provide detailed low level guidance on setting the security configuration of operating systems and applications.”
